It began in Spain in the inner city barrio of San Blas, Madrid almost three decades ago when a small group of Christian missionaries from WEC International , a worldwide missionary organisation, began to care for the needs of a few drug addicts and marginalized people. Today it‘s program and communities can be found in over 100 urban areas in over 20 nations: Spain, Portugal, France, England, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Czech Republic, Belgium, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Russia, Finland, Australia, India, Nepal, Mongolia, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, South Africa, Kazakhstan and the coast of North Africa.
While each Betel community has developed its own identity and personal approach in applying the Betel program to the needs of their people, Betel worldwide embraces the same principles and shares a common ethos. Betel’s ethos is founded in historic, mainstream Christianity, thus we put our emphasis in the restoration of personality that is found in the gospel. Whilst Betel residences and churches operate on Christian values and practices, anyone, regardless of race, gender or religion is welcome to participate in the life of each community.
